The Spanish Notary Council has just presented an extremely useful tool for anyone interested in Spain’s real estate market. It is the Statistical Portal (English version included).
Among many other resources, it offers the latest information on real estate prices anywhere in Spain. Since the data is based on real estate contracts supervised by the Spanish Notaries, it gives the most up-to-date and accurate information on real estate prices in Spain.
The portal offers an interactive map through which you can pinpoint data for any location in Spain. The information is free of charge and includes other resources such as a mortgage calculator and a practical guide on buying property in Spain.
The official presentation of the portal was accompanied by a whole roster of extremely useful statistics on Spain’s real estate market. For example, the average cost of a square metre in Spain today is 2.153 euros, compared to 1.312 euros in 2013.
Also, the total number of properties sold in 2024 in Spain was 537.500. Of these, 21% were sold to non-Spaniards. The Spanish provinces in which most properties were bought by foreigners were Alicante (53,7% of the total), Tenerife (45,2%) and Málaga (43,7%). In Alicante, 35% of buyers were non-residents in Spain and were predominantly from the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium and Poland. The map shows the percentage of properties bought by foreigners in Spain (per province) in 2024.
